<text>Wide area monitoring systems require the integration of new technologies that provide real time synchronized phase angle measurements. The Phasor measurement units (PMUs) are the most advanced devices to achieve this task so far. The objective of this work is to find the minimum number and optimal placement of PMUs in some standardized IEEE systems. The relatively new drone squadron optimization (DSO) technique is used to solve this problem. Next, fault location is studied based on the measurements collected from these PMUs. The simulations are carried out using MATLAB SIMULINK. The results show that it is possible to achieve the observability of the overall system; however, more PMUs are needed to locate the faults.</text>

In this research work, a binary teaching learning based optimization (BTLBO) algorithm for the optimal placement of synchro-phasor measurement units (SPMUs) is proposed. The optimal PMU placement problem is formulated to minimize the number of SPMUs installation subject to full network observability of the power system buses under fault conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation of IEEE 14-bus benchmark system.</text>

<text>Pattern synthesis of Antenna array has gained much attention over the last years as they constitute an important role in the modern communication systems. Unit circle-based techniques such as Schelkunoff null placement method have proved their effectiveness to synthesize uniformly spaced linear arrays. Nonuniformly spaced antenna array pattern synthesis has been investigated and interesting results have been obtained. In this work, the unit circle representation approach is applied to synthesize nonuniformly spaced and nonuniformly excited linear arrays. The objective is to accurately place nulls in the desired directions while achieving the least possible sidelobe level. The problem is cast as an optimization problem that is solved using the Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO). Examples are dealt with to prove the design approach effectiveness and flexibility for modern communication system applications.</text>

The phasor measurement units are the most advanced devices to achieve that. The objective of this work is first, to find the optimal placement of a minimum number of PMUs in some standardized IEEE systems. Next, the same method was applied to the Algerian 63 bus system. Two cases are taken into consideration: the minimum number of PMUs without considering the ZIB, then, considering the ZIB. The simulations are carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK.</text>

<text>The study of photovoltaic systems (PV) in an efficient manner requires a precise knowledge of the I-V characteristic curves of PV modules. An accurate current-voltage (I-V) model of PV modules is inherently implicit and non-linear and calls for iterative computations to obtain an analytical expression of current as a function of voltage. In this paper, numerical approaches are proposed to forecast the PV modules performance for engineering applications. The proposed approaches were implemented in a Matlab script and the results have been compared with the datasheet values provided by manufacturers in standard test conditions (STC). These approaches permit to extract the unknown parameters and also allow quantifying the effects of module temperature and irradiance on key cells parameters. In this work, a comparative study of the performance characteristics for different modules thin films and solid is analyzed by a single-diode equivalent circuit using four- and five-parameter models and two diode model.</text>

This is the simplest aim of signal processing where the filter turns out to be the key element. The objective of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of analog passive and active filters. Particularly, the interest goes to the conventional Butterworth, Chebychev and Bessel filter. A comparative study of these filters is done. The different circuits are simulated using the MULTISIM software to visualize the magnitude and phase responses. The procedure of designing the different filters is presented so that it can be used in any application.</text>

This operation requires continuous and high-level training of the operators, in order to overcome this limit, we call upon the field of artificial intelligence and expert systems. The basic idea of this work is the study of the contribution of expert systems in maintenance. It is a matter of synthesizing, from a bibliographic study, a logic to allow integrating the expert systems of diagnosis of breakdowns and dysfunctions in the maintenance of the systems of production; this last expert systems gives the better performance concerning the settling time and it’s always taken</text>

<text>Online tool wear prediction is a determining factor to the success of smart manufacturing operations. The implementation of sensors based Prognostic and Health Management (PHM) system plays an important role in estimating Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of cutting tools and optimizing the usage of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines. The present paper deals with health assessment and RUL estimation of the cutting tool machines based on Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) and Extreme Learning Machine (ELM). This approach is done in two phases: a learning (offline) phase and a testing (online) phase. During the first phase, the WPT is used to extract the relevant features of raw data computed in the form of nodes energy. The extracted features are then fed to the learning algorithm ELM in order to build an offline model. In the online phase, the constructed model is exploited for assessing and predicting the RUL of cutting tool. The main idea is that ELM involves nonlinear regression in a high dimensional feature space for mapping the input data via a nonlinear function to build a prognostics model. The method was applied to real world data gathered during several cuts of a milling CNC tool. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through the accuracy metric. Results showed the significance performances achieved by the WPT and ELM for early detection and accurate prediction of the monitored cutting tools.</text>

<text>The results of this study are interesting about antenna technology generation used in small satellite. A new design optimized of the TCR (tracking, command and ranging) antenna has been presented. It has a good impedance matching to the 50 Ohm coaxial line which has been radically enhanced with different geometric features. For the Ku band frequency band, the VSWR of 1.15 is not exceeded. In its optimized version, it is compact and aesthetic and this property reduces antenna distortions. Design considerations for this antenna performance in terms of coverage gain, side lobe isolation, and cross-polar isolation are discussed. The paper also discusses the possibilities of extending the frequency coverage of the antenna system into the Ku-band system can increase the capabilities and operational flexibility of existing earth stations as well as adapts with new current and future technology trends are presented.</text>

<text>This work is a part of the thematic of monitoring and fault diagnosis of the squirrel cage three-phase induction machine. The choice of this type of machine is justified by the growing success it has exhibited, mainly, in the electric drives with variable speed. Signal based detection methods are presented is validated in simulation. The proposed diagnosis approach requires only little experimental data, and more importantly it provides efficient simulation tools that allow characterizing faulty behavior. In this study, the proposed approach considers the value of rotor resistance as fixed for condition monitoring. This value in the diagnostic tools which one uses is not fixed contrary to the classical approaches of control of machine.</text>
