يعتبر موضوع التّعليل بالحكمة محلّ جدل بين العلماء، فهو يمثل الجانب المعقول من شريعتنا الغرّاء في مقابل المنقول منها، حيث اختلف فيه العلماء عموما إلى ثلاثة مذاهب، بين مانع ومجيز وقائل بالتّفصيل؛ فالمانعون من التعليل بالحكمة يدلّلون على مذهبهم بعدم انضباط الحكمة؛ مما يؤدي إلى اضطراب الأحكام، أمّا المجيزون لذلك فيعلّلون مذهبهم أنّ الشريعة موضوعة لمصالح العباد في الدّارين فهي في أصلها موضوعة لحكمة، فالمنع من التعليل بها بمثابة فصل الشّريعة عن روحها، وهذا المذهب هو الراجح لقوة أدلّته، أمّا من ذهب منهم إلى التفصيل فيرى التعليل به إذا كانت ظاهرة منضبطة بنفسها، وإلاّ فالمنع. ومن المدارس الفقهية الرائدة في باب التعليل بالحكمة المدرسة المالكية، ومنها الإمام مروان بن علي البوني المتوفى سنة 440ه، فقد أكثر من التعليل بالحكمة في كتابه تفسير الموطأ من خلال تخريجه للفروع الفقهية، وتعليله لآراء أئمة المذهب، ولقد تمّ التطرق في البحث إلى نماذج تطبيقية من كتابه تفسير الموطأ، حيث اختلف منهجه في ذلك وتنوعت طرائقه. 
The topic of reasoning with wisdom is a subject of controversy among scholars, as it represents the reasonable side of our glorified Sharia in exchange for what has been transmitted from it, where scholars differed in general to three doctrines, between the objection, the permissible, and said in detail; Those who are prevented from justifying wisdom demonstrate their doctrine by the lack of discipline in wisdom. This leads to the disturbance of rulings. As for the permissible ones, they explain their doctrine that the law is established for the interests of the servants in the two homes, it is at the origin of wisdom because of the strength of its evidence. As for those who went to detail, he sees the reasoning of it if it is a self-disciplined phenomenon. Otherwise, prevention is prohibited. Among the leading schools of jurisprudence in the justification of wisdom is the Maliki school, including Imam Marawan bin Ali Al-Bouni, who died in the year 440 AH. Writing Muwatta’s interpretation where his approach differed and his methods varied.
