The Algerian Literature and The Sufi Episteme: the case of Mohamed Dib and Rachid Boudjedra
To understand the Algerian writing is to bring out in it the deep meaning that it conceals and which is related to a mystical experience, that of Sufis. By interviewing two classic Algerian authors. Mohamed Dib and Rachid Boudjedra, we tried to show by a questioning of meaning, that their literature is generated by a Sufi episteme. The research showed that through its inscription in Sufi literature, Algerian literature seeks to go beyond the letter to go towards meaning. The poetic writing, the writing of irony and derision are accompanied by a mode of reading the text which assumes all the play of possibilities of meaning. The metaphysical attitude before the text is the dream of rediscovering the original and original meaning of the text. This is why Algerian literature reveals a Sufi episteme that we find in two Algerian authors of Arabic script: Sidi Boumediene, the poet of desire and Emir Abdelkader, the Sufi of writing. All these Algerian writers, from different periods, different scripts, different personal experiences, different spellings, are moved by a deep desire: to undertake a quest for the original point from which their words came. All are looking for the point of transcendence that would lead them to epiphany, to rediscover the place where it all began, their lolineness with God. But all have understood, through poetry or through irony and derision, that the mystical experience has limits that should not be crossed. They are all human and not superhuman.

Comprendre l’écriture algérienne, c’est faire surgir en elle le sens profond qu’elle recèle et qui l’apparente à une expérience mystique, celle de soufis. En interrogeant deux auteurs classiques algériens. Mohamed Dib et Rachid Boudjedra, nous avons essayé de montrer par un questionnement du sens, que leur littérature est générée par une épistémè soufie.
