يحاول هذا البحثُ الغوصَ في أوَّلياتِ الطائفة والطائفيَّة ومفاهيمهما؛ بشكلٍ متناغمٍ مع مفاهيم العصبة والتعصُّب والعصبية؛ والغرضُ الوصولُ إلى فهمٍ أعمقَ للطائفية المقيتة، والتي تُلقي بظلالها على معايش العالم المعاصر؛ وإنَّه وإن كان البحثُ ههنا في المجال الدِّيني – عن الطوائف الدِّينية- إلَّا أنَّ أمره لا ينحصر فيها؛ بل تشمل جميع ما يختلف فيه النَّاس؛ فثمَّ الطائفية على أسٍّ عرقيٍّ، وإثنيٍّ، وفكريٍّ مذهبيٍّ، وقوميٍّ... الخ. كما إنَّ هذا البحث يدرس الطائفية والعصبيَّةَ ليستنبط مفاهيمهما في القرآن الكريم والسنَّة النبويَّة؛ من دون إلقاء بالٍ إلى أيَّةِ إكراهاتٍ واقعيَّةٍ أو فكريَّة دفاعيَّةٍ من أجل رفع التُّهمة عن الإسلام أنَّه دين إرهابٍ وتمزيقٍ ودمويَّةٍ ونحوها من التُّهم، فميدانُ ذلك في مكانٍ آخرَ؛ ولكنَّ المنهج يقتضينا أن ننظر ما المعاني المتضمَّنةُ في القرآن الكريم والسنَّة النبويَّة المطهَّرة؛ باعتبارهما الهدي الذي يَرتَسِمُ من خلالهما الإسلامُ حقًّا. 
This research attempts to clarify the concepts of sects and sectarianism, in parallel with the study of the concepts of intolerance; and the goal is to achieve a deeper understanding of the hateful bigotry against the other and sectarianism, which characterizes our contemporary world, where there is a sectarianism based on race, ethnicity, intellectual, nationalism, etc, not the religious one only. This research studies sectarianism and intolerance to determine their concepts in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet; We do not care about accusations against Islam, that Islam is the religion of terrorism, bloody and destructive religion, we do rather observing what are the meanings included in the Holy Quran and in the prophetic Sunnah as guidance which illustrates Islam in its true image.
